How do I get my Singer Traditional sewing machine to sew on the end of the fabric like on scarves?
To prevent the fabric from unraveling. If you look at the edges of a hair scarf for example, you will notice that the stitching is exactly on the top edge and bottom of the fabric. Is this one of the setting on this machine I have: Singer Traditional Sewing machine.
If you still have the accessory feet that came with your machine, look at them to see if you have a "rolled-hem" foot. It will have a small curlicue on it which is used to roll the fabric tightly and evenly ( use your manual if you have it.) A little experimentation with scrap fabric will gain you a finely finished edge.
sew over thin paper, like pattern paper…. in fact, sandwich the ‘frayed’ part between two sheets of paper so it doesn’t tangle in the bobbin mechanism…..then when finished, gently tear the paper away….

If you can you move the needle to the right, go as far as the machine will allow and the needle plate and presser foot will accommodate.
The feed dogs and presser foot have to have a good grip on the fabric.
If the area being stitched is too narrow, fold a piece of water soluble stabilizer over the area you are hemming.
Make the fold wide enough for the feed dogs to catch the stabilizer and the needle, the fabric.
When finished, trim away as much of the stabilizer as possible and wet the remaining and it will dissolve.
If you have a Walmart store that sells fabric, you can find H 2 O Gone by the yard. Fabric stores may also carry it, or Sulky brand.
