How do I become a famous singer?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin

Let’s say I’ve established that I’m a good singer (even though I’m not sure), and I want to get known. How do I? For example, who do I call to perform at a party or restaurant? Or what’s the number for a small record company? Please help?

To be a famous singer, the most common way is to perform at bars, clubs, etc in places where talent scouts are most likely to be in. Or you can try out for an audition. There should be stuff like this in a newspaper, or you can just go into such places and ask if they are offering such jobs.

As always, competition is insanely high, so make sure you have a backup plan: college.

I first aimed to be a rock star, but I don’t know, all that fame would kill me :/ no privacy and whatsoever. Back to school now!

Just perform at every opportunity you can, and leave behind a reputation.

good luck (you’ll be needing this!)

Look online for a place to record, it shouldn’t be that hard or expensive if the place isn’t all that fancy.
Just prepare a few songs and make some demo CDs and pass them out to people at concerts.
Make yourself a website and myspace music page so people can find you and you’ll get more discovered.
Of course, it’s easier said than done.

Most of my friends are in band, they call up places that feature live bands and they ask if they can schedule themselves for a show. It’s actually not that hard.

Play a lot, make a lot of music YOURSELF, get a music myspace, record a lot, make some EP’s. With a luck, effort, and talent you’ll be big, but saying it is easier than doing it. Good luck.

Next year try out for American Idol. They’ll let you know for sure if you can sing. It’s not that far away. They tape about 5 months in advance. Take a singing lesson first. Maybe more than one if you’re good. That’s really your best way to get in the business. You don’t have to win; if you come in the top 10, you’re in.

Networking! Drop by the restaurants that you might be interested in performing at, and let them know. Tell everyone you know that you want to sing at parties. Possibly get a Myspace with some of your recordings.

As for recording companies, just check the yellow pages. You should see some listed.
