What is the best piano book for teaching a young beginner?

I am to start teaching a second grader piano. I am new to teaching, but I have had nine years of piano lessons. I also play with a band and have taught myself guitar. What would be the best book to help myself teach and help her learn?
I usually use Alfred Basic 1A Lesson Book and the 1A Fun Book for 7 year olds. When the student starts learning the notes I add a Level 1 Hal Leonard Notespeller.

I absolutely love the Kenneth Baker ‘complete piano’ books.
They were published in the 80s, I believe 1984, so they can be difficult to get hold of. I recommend checking local charity shops, ebay and amazon.
Taught myself how to play piano during my teens using his books & occasionally refer back to them when teaching someone else how to play.

I really like the Piano Adventures books by Nancy & Randall Faber. They’re by far my favorite traditional piano teaching books. Nancy is an award-winning composer, so the music is *much* more interesting than other beginner books!
What’s also great is that they have books of fun music to go along with every level, to give your student extra music to play in a style that he/she loves. They have pop music, jazz & blues, ragtime, marches, classical… and lots more.
These books are available at any music store, inexpensive, and well-designed from a pedagogy standpoint (plus they’ve got good layouts and graphics – modern).
I just love them and highly recommend them!!
