It sounds like a good idea, but if you buy an antique piano and no one in your household plays the piano it might indeed look out of place and come across as pretention. In order to "keep it casual yet incorporate the piano" you might buy it and then start taking piano lessons, so that you could entertain your guests when you invite them over for dinner… unless, of course, you already play the piano

we used to have it in a bedroom and now in a living room and I think that's the best place to put it. I wouldn't put it in a dining room, but maybe it would look ok. you have to try.

well it would look nice, but is thier rooom in thier for a dinig set and a pinao? you must have a big dinding room. if you do decide to do this, you might need a smaller dinin set, maybe a little wrought iron type like a cafe, with a glass table top, and very italian. Get the picture?

I think that's a great idea, really! Not weird at all. Kind of cool actually. Just don't be setting glasses and cups and stuff on it.

Pianos are frequently kept in the dining room as its somewhere they can be stored (and used still) that tends to have a little more space for them. Nothing odd about it at all.

I think it’s a lovely idea! To keep the casual feel, pink a couple bright colors to incorporate throughout the room – for example, choose a vibrant pink or blue for napkins and place settings, and carry it over with a throw draped over the piano bench in the same color.
