Suggestions for a high quality electric piano?
I would like to purchase an electric piano. I’ve played piano since I was in first grade and would love to buy a real piano…but it wouldn’t work too well in my apartment. I want an electric piano that really sounds and feels like a real piano when I play it. Any suggestions for good brands/models of electric pianos?
Roland makes great electric pianos, so does Yamaha. No matter what brand, look for weighted keys and touch sensitive. I bought a yamaha electric upright piano for my home, looks and feels like a real piano, only i can use headphones and never have to tune it-its great. I use a roloand for gigs (lighter).. my sugesstion is to go somewhere and try a few diff brands out to find the right sound that you want.

I like the Roland 700sx – its close to $2,000, but it has "graded hammer action" (the keys for the bass notes feel "heavier" and the keys for the treble notes feel "lighter" to push down). I think that it can even be adjusted, or even turned off, but its a full 88 keys, you don’t have to change strings on it, and it will have a decent resale value if you decide to change your mind. You have to actually play one to see if you like the way it feels – for that you might have to go to a bigger city (?) where they have one you can try out. If I were buying a "stage piano" (what they are called) this is the keyboard that I would buy.
