Hi, I want to start listening to classic instrumental music, can you recommend something?

But don’t get me wrong. Classic as Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, etc.
Something not from 1900’s or it could be! As long as it is instrumental music.
Thanks.
I have a few suggestions:

Try Vanessa mae, the section quartet, nobuo uematsu, fred lykes, Vivaldi, handel, hayden, dvorak, mozart, and Debussy. You can download a lot of classical music that’s already in the public domain completely free from Musopen.com or other sites like it.

Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 is a good one. You’ll enjoy the driving rhythms and beautiful yet kind of dark melodies and chords.
Here’s something to help you while listening to it.

I’m not to familiar with Classical music, but here are some of my favourites;
Fur Elise ~ Beethoven
Requiem For a Dream ~ Clint Mansell
Moonlight Sonata ~ Beethoven
Clair De Lune ~ Claude Debussy
Air ~ Bach
Thats about it, and though this one is not a classic, I just thought I should suggest it;
The Meadow ~ Alexander Desplat. This piece was in the ‘New Moon’ movie, but don’t let you put you off, as this is a beautiful piece.

Depends on what you’re into. Personally I was into metal at the same time I was getting into Classical (and still am), so I found it easier to get into fast violin work than the more standard recomendations.
My favorite composers are Paganini and Ernst.
Other ones I like are Schnittke (a lot of pesimistic stuff), Schoenberg (crazy atonal stuff. Kind of love or hate though) and Vivaldi who others have already brought up.
This piece is my personal favorite solo violin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWNCbpwC-PQ

It is "classical" not classic… classic could mean anything – country, rock…
