Im doing a report on pop music and i need to know what the first ever pop album was called and maybe a couple siteds that could give me some info on pop music.

Prior to WWII, "Albums" were collections of Grammaphone-78’s in a booklet resembling a photo album, rarely more than four records to a set. The only thing that came close was an experimental 33 rpm Long-Play Grammaphone record in 1945 by Bing Crosby called Merry Christmas… obviously a collection of traditional Xmas music.

The first record-album (non grammaphone) of original material released by what could conceivably be called a Pop Artist was "The Voice of Frank Sinatra", released on 78 LP disc in 1946 and re-issued as a 33 LP in 1948.

Read up on Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and the way that they blazed the trail for modern music. They were the first real Pop Idols. It would be interesting for your report to stress the fact that they were the template for Elvis, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson.

Great ! I suggest light airy Mozart chamber music because something with big sound distracts more than helps. Did you know there are studies that babies increase their thinking process listening to mozart?
I believe those who peg classical music as an old persons thing have been indoctrinated by the Nickelodeon and music channels.
I am an 80 year old who plays and conducts his own music. My students are famous worldwide and they are not old folks.

If you want to do it legally, go to wal-mart.com and buy mp3s with a credit/debit/gift card. Plug in your Sony and Windows media player player and the music will automatically sync on.

How do I get started learning to play piano?

I’ve always found it interesting to play piano, but I think I will like it. I do not want to invest hundreds upon hundreds of dollars into it. I would prefer to start out with something cheap like a keyboard and learn via an instructional book. What should I get? I was at Target and saw a keyboard with fewer keys than the piano style. Is there a difference? I would like to mock a real piano electronically as much as possible. What are the best books to learn? What should I buy? I dont know anything about music!

What Broadway songs should I sing for an audition?

I am a 13 year old girl and I need to sing 16 bars of 2 different songs for a summer camp audition. One needs to be a ballad and one a more up tempo song. I’m thinking about singing "A lot of living to do" from Bye Bye Birdie for my second song. Is that a good choice? And what should I do for my other song? My voice isn’t a huge belty voice but I can sing pretty well. I don’t know what show I’m auditioning for, it’s just a general audition. I’d rather do a song from a more modern show than and older one, but any suggestions are good. Please help!

The key is to sing something a 13 year old girl would sing. No one wants to see you tackle opera or rock. There are plenty of good songs for you. "Far From the Home I Love" is an excellent example. "Tomorrow" may seem too immature. Here are a few suggestions:

On a piano, is it really necessary to have all the three pedals for a beginner?

I recently started learning piano and want to buy a good keyboard with all the features(weighted keys, touch sensitive keys).. I really liked the yamaha YPG625 model, but it comes with only one foot pedal.

Is it really necessary to have all the three pedals? I am a complete beginner and do not even know what a pedal is used for.

Not necessarily.
The left pedal is a damper (I think it makes the sound alittle smaller)
The middle pedal makes the sound go even softer.
The right pedal(the one pedal) is basically all you need.

I’ve been playing for 6 years now, and I have never used anything other than the right pedal.
