Name of 3D artist who built a small island and lives in Chelsea, New York?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

Looking for a 3D artist to do research on for class. Someone recommended me an artist who built a small island, used small units, and wore a dress for a year (not Alex Martin). She lives in Chelsea, New York. Does anyone know the name of this artist?

Or can recommend any other 3D artists (not digital art, but with physical materials in their work)?

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure of who you are thinking of. But if you looking for an artist whose work is very material specific look at Christo and Jeanne Claude’s work.

EDIT, This is still not the artist you are looking for, but they might be someone else for you to look into. In 2005 the Whitney Museum created a sculpture planned by Robert Smithson before he died in a plane crash. The sculpture was a floating island that was towed in a loop around Manhattan by a tug boat. So it fits the island part, but not the dress thing, plus he has been dead for 34 years.

How would I extract instrumental music from a DVD on my mac?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

I want to extract instrumental music from my Brothers and Sisters DVDs without any talking or dialogue in the track. Does anyone know how one would do this?

Yes – first you need to rip the DVD in handbrake
http://handbrake.fr/?article=download

Then import the h.264 file into iMovie or Final Cut and use the extract Audio – Command + J to remove the audio. Just like you would do in a normal captured movie clip.

How does the music we listen to affect our behavior?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

I’m doing a paper and I wanted some outsider input. How does what we listen to affect what we do? Does listening to music like Slipknot really provoke murders or is this just a convenient scapegoat?

lol i am listening to music from india right now , doesnt mean i will open my third eye and start dancing funny as i listen to it ? lol no

hmmm i think it depends pretty much of the state of the mind of each individual and the intentions as well , some listen to music to relax others to get happy others to let their rage out , or meditate and others to identify with the lyrics and dont feel alone in their situation

for example someone who went through a breakup will listen to breakup songs to feel that someone else went through the same as well and either dwell in the pain or let it all out

its all about options no lyrics in a song can make anyone do anything they dont really want to do unless they are really gullible !

BUT it has been proved in certain experiment that if you repeatably listen to songs with a bad meaning and concept to them you may adopt that kind of attitude , rap songs with a lot of bad words can be a bad inffuence in young people who identify with the getto audience , same with rockers and satanic stuff , if they take it too seriously they may take it to the next level as well

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

I have recently purchased an ipod nano. I have more than 500 songs there. Sometimes it become really difficult to search for the songs I like to listen. So is there any way of saving songs or music in separate folder in an ipod nano? For exaple for modern song one folder, for jazz another separate folder, for country music one more folder and so on?

Create a playlist via itunes.

How to kick the lead singer out of our band?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 by admin

He is our lead singer and he owns all of our equipment. He is malicious and rude. He constantly acts like a child at the most inoppurtune times. He rarely wants to practice. We have a gig Sunday and were planning on breaking the news to him after that. This person has been my friend since thrid grade so I would like to stay friends, Hes just not useful in a band setting. If it matters were not replacing him our guitarist is just going to start playing and singing.

if he acts like that then there is no place for him to be in a band. imagine if you guys hit it big time.the media would be all over that and it could affect your band. and it may hurt him and he may not want to be friends with you anymore, but honesty is important and if your band is important to you then you gotta do what you gotta do. he may feel a little better that your not really replacing him.but break it to him easily and make sure to explain to him exactly why you need to kick him out.

How much do piano lessons cost for beginners?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 by admin

I really want to learn. I’m into music and learning new things and since I’m into music and learning I decided I want to play piano or either guitar but piano is better (in my opion)
So Yeah, how much would they cost for private lessons???
I don’t have a piano so… I can’t take online lessons but I’d get one later on.

I started piano lessons a couple months ago (after my grandma taught me some…) and we are paying $100 a month, or $25 dollars a week. I take these lessons at a music store, but in a private room, so it’s "private," but she doesn’t come to my house to teach. My instructor teaches all levels, so I am guessing lesson prices might be a standard rate…I think it all depends on who’s teaching.

I agree, piano is AWESOME, and a great way to really get into the music you like! I hope this helps…and good luck with your lessons.

Is it fair to punish a great artist like Polanski when Michael Jackson was forgiven for pedophilia?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 by admin

Michael Jackson was forgiven for his transgressions because of his creative artistic accomplishments shouldn’t Polanski and all great artist be forgiven as well?

Michael Jackson was never convicted, because there was reasonable doubt.

What is the Twilight instrumental music in the beginning of the movie when Edward is hunting the deer?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 by admin

Its also the same instrumental music that plays during the climax moment in the movie…its not on the soundtrack that I’ve seen.

It’s in the Twilight Score composed by Carter Burwell and is available in stores and on iTunes. It’s called "How Would I Die" and you can listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdvCuAWlcBU

How to beat our internet server security and listen to streaming music while at work?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 by admin

Our IT guy at work has but internet server blocker "Barracuda" on our computers. I used to listen to streaming music while at work but he found out I as doing that and blocked me from listening to it. Is there any way around it so I can continue to listen to some, or any kind of music. I will go crazy without anything to listen to at work and I am open to all suggestions seeing that I will not get in trouble if I get caught trying to beat the system. Thanks everyone!

Ever thought of getting yourself an ipod?
